violence in the media

what is the impact of media violence on our daily lives?

violence in the media has great effect on our everyday lives. for some people they enjoy the violence in the media, they think its "cool". for others violence in the media puts fear into their lives. scary movies for example, some people love scary movies it gives them excitement. others are terrified, they are paranoid after watching scary movies. news reports is another example, local news even, people are afraid when they hear about violent crimes happening around them, they are very cautious about what they do around their house and when they go out. song lyrics is another example of media violence, most people don't realize that songs have violent lyrics they just listen to the song and sing along to it but they aren't really listening to the words that are coming out of their mouth, they don't realize the songs are talking about beating someone up or anything like that, they just listen to the beat and if they like the beat they like the song i guess. so, violence in the media has mixed effects on people.

hip hop

"I jokingly say I'm in recovery from hip hop. It's like being in a domestic violence situation. You home is hip hop and your man is beating you."
- Toni Blackman, Rapper, Poet, Actress

Rap music as a whole is disrespectful twards women.

this quote and statement go together because the quote states that hip hop is like being in an abusive relationship...

and the statement says that rap is disrespectful to women...

Movie Comparisson

The two movies we watched in class about body image and how the media tells people how they should be were pretty informative. One of the movies were talking about how the media represents how women should look perfect and have no flaws.

the other movie that we watched showed how the media makes men look violent. and so, men in society think they have to be violent and masculant.

Super Bowl

What I've learned about the Super Bowl advertisments is that they all draw attention to a certian type of age group and a certian type of person, and the comercials draw attention in some way shape or form.

Key Concept

The key concept I know best is Key Concept number one:
all media messages are constructed.

The reason I know it the best is because I did a poster on that concept.
